I loved the etching workshop as we were shown how to do the whole process from start to finish and then was allowed to create my own. The first step was to make sure the metal plate was not greasy so added powder and then sprayed water on after rubbing the paste in then washed it off. Next we had to add the ground to the etching plate. When choosing which ground to apply to the plate you have to remember that the soft ground is for imprinting so like leaves/lace/string etc. The hard ground is for when you are drawing into the plate. To apply the ground put the metal plate on the hot bed to heat up so its easier to apply the ground then roll it out on the plate.
