I'd previously been searching for a costume to buy but decided they were all either expensive or just really boring. That's when I found Chelsea's blog about an easy way to make an owl costume out of recycled materials so I planned to create my own.  I loved it because I could use stuff I had lying about the house the design was simple, effective and I could make it my own. Here I have just started to paint my mask (using acrylics) which I plan to finish soon...

Howdy!

I'm Emily and I start at Salford University studying Visual Arts in September. 19 and yet I love nothing more than sitting at home with a cup of tea and watching anything like the Great British Bake Off or Kirstie's Fill Your House For Free. I love the idea of recycling something and giving it a new breath of life either in a useful or artistic way. Throughout this first term on the course I plan to explore this concept and can't wait to get going. This blog is hopefully going to make me document my work to a wider audience and help me to explore other peoples ideas and inspiration. Confidence in my own work is something I need to improve so I thought this would be a small step in the right direction.
